How conscious of the subconscious are we?

I was really interested to receive a post-purchase survey from @Ascot following a (break even kinda day) at the races, with one of the questions asking “what brands can you recall from your visit to Ascot racecourse today?”
Duly noted, I ask myself is it because I am in the industry that I am more conscious & could recall the partner brands? I would love to know whether the brand marketing teams for these brands were shared the results?
